- Kapitel 13 -

(Judges 1:1–7)

Now Joshua was very old when Yahweh said to him, “You are very old, but there is still very much land to capture.

This is the land that still remains: all the regions of the Philistines, and all those of the Geshurites,

from Shihor, which is east of Egypt, and northward to the border of Ekron, which is considered property of the Canaanites; the five rulers of the Philistines, those of Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath, and Ekron-the territory of the Avvites.

In the south, there are still all the lands of the Canaanites, and Mearah that belongs to the Sidonians, to Aphek, to the border of the Amorites;

the land of the Gebalites, all of Lebanon toward the sunrise, from Baal Gad below Mount Hermon to Lebo Hamath.

Also, all the inhabitants of the hill country from Lebanon as far as Misrephoth Maim, including all the people of Sidon. I will drive them out before the army of Israel. Be sure to assign the land to Israel as an inheritance, as I commanded you.

Divide this land as an inheritance to the nine tribes and to the half tribe of Manasseh.”

The Inheritance East of the Jordan

(Numbers 32:1–42; Deuteronomy 3:12–22)

With the other half of the tribe of Manasseh, the Reubenites and the Gadites had received their inheritance that Moses gave them on the east side of the Jordan,

from Aroer, which is on the edge of the Arnon river gorge, including the city that is in the middle of the gorge, to all the plateau of Medeba as far as Dibon;

all the cities of Sihon, king of the Amorites, who ruled in Heshbon, to the border of the Ammonites;

Gilead, and the region of the Geshurites and Maacathites, all of Mount Hermon, all Bashan to Salecah;

all the kingdom of Og in Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth and Edrei-these are what was left of the remnant of the Rephaim-Moses struck them and drove them out.

But the people of Israel did not drive out the Geshurites or the Maacathites. Instead, Geshur and Maacath live among Israel to this day.

To the tribe of Levi alone Moses gave no inheritance. The offerings of Yahweh, the God of Israel, made by fire, are their inheritance, as God said to Moses.

Reuben’s Inheritance

Moses gave an inheritance to the tribe of Reuben, clan by clan.

Their territory was from Aroer, on the edge of the Arnon River gorge, and the city that is in the middle of the valley, and all the plateau by Medeba.

Reuben also received Heshbon and all its cities that are in the plateau, Dibon, and Bamoth Baal, and Beth Baalmeon,

and Jahaz, and Kedemoth, and Mephaath,

and Kiriathaim, and Sibmah, and Zerethshahar on the hill of the valley.

Reuben also received Beth Peor, the slopes of Pisgah, Beth Jeshimoth,

all the cities of the plateau, and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, who had reigned in Heshbon, whom Moses had defeated together with the leaders of Midian, Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur and Reba, the princes of Sihon, who had lived in the land.

The people of Israel also killed with the sword Balaam son of Beor, who practiced divination, among the rest of those they had killed.

The border of the tribe of Reuben is the Jordan River; this is their boundary. This was the inheritance of the tribe of Reuben, given to each of their clans, with their cities and villages.

Gad’s Inheritance

This is what Moses gave to the tribe of Gad, clan by clan:

Their territory was Jazer, all the cities of Gilead and half the land of the Ammonites, to Aroer, which is east of Rabbah,

from Heshbon to Ramath Mizpah and Betonim, from Mahanaim to the territory of Debir.

In the valley, Moses gave them Beth Haram, Beth Nimrah, Succoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon, with the Jordan as a border, to the lower end of the Sea of Chinnereth, eastward beyond the Jordan.

This is the inheritance of the tribe of Gad, clan by clan, with their cities and villages.

Manasseh’s Eastern Inheritance

Moses gave an inheritance to the half tribe of Manasseh. It was assigned to the half tribe of the people of Manasseh, according to their clans.

Their territory was from Mahanaim, all Bashan, all the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and all the towns of Jair, which are in Bashan, sixty cities;

half of Gilead, and Ashtaroth and Edrei, the royal cities of Og in Bashan. These were assigned to the clan of Machir son of Manasseh-half of the people of Machir, given to each of their families.

This is the inheritance that Moses assigned to them on the plains of Moab, beyond the Jordan east of Jericho.

Moses did not give an inheritance to the tribe of Levi. Yahweh, the God of Israel, is their inheritance, just as he said to them.

Verbleibendes zu eroberndes Land

(Richter 1,1-7)

Als nun Josue alt und hochbetagt war, sprach der Herr zu ihm: Du bist alt geworden und hochbetagt, und es ist ein sehr weites Land übrig, das noch nicht durch das Los verteilt ist,

nämlich ganz Galiläa, das Land der Philister, und das ganze Gebiet der Gessuriter,

vom trüben Flusse an, der Ägypten bespült, bis an die Grenzen von Akkaron gegen Norden, das Land Chanaan, welches unter fünf Fürsten der Philister geteilt ist, die Gaziter, Azotiter, Askaloniter, Gethiter und Akkaroniter.

Gegen Süden aber sind die Heviter, das ganze Land Chanaan, und Maara, das den Sidoniern gehört, bis Apheka, bis an die Grenzen der Amorrhiter,

und das angrenzende Land. Sodann der Landstrich am Libanon im Osten, von Baalgad am Fuße des Hermongebirges, bis man nach Emath kommt;

alle Gebirgsbewohner, vom Libanon an bis an das Wasser Maserephoth, und alle Sidonier. Ich bin es, der sie angesichts der Söhne Israels vertilgen wird. Das alles also soll der Erbteil Israels werden, wie ich dir geboten habe.

So verteile nun das Land an die neun Stämme und an den halben Stamm Manasse als Erbbesitz;

Das geteilte Land östlich des Jordans

(4. Mose 32,1-42; 5. Mose 3,12-22)

denn mit diesem haben Ruben und Gad das Land in Besitz genommen, welches Moses, der Diener des Herrn, ihnen jenseits des Flusses Jordans, auf der Ostseite, gegeben hat.

Von Aroer an, welches am Ufer des Baches Arnon liegt, und in der Mitte des Tales und die ganze Ebene von Medaba bis Dibon;

und sämtliche Städte Sehons, des Königs der Amorrhiter, der in Hesebon herrschte, bis zu den Grenzen der Söhne Ammons;

und Galaad, und das Gebiet der Gessuriter, und der Machatiter, und das ganze Gebirge des Hermon, und ganz Basan bis nach Salecha,

das ganze Reich Ogs in Basan, welcher in Astaroth und Edrai herrschte und noch von den Raphaitern übrig war; diese schlug Moses und vertilgte sie.

Und die Söhne Israels wollten die Gessuriter und Machatiter nicht vertilgen, sondern sie blieben unter Israel bis auf den heutigen Tag wohnen.

Dem Stamme Levi aber gab er keinen Besitz; sondern die Opfer und Schlachtopfer des Herrn, des Gottes Israel, diese sind sein Erbteil, wie er zu ihm gesagt hat.

Das Land Ruben

Moses also gab dem Stamme der Söhne Rubens nach ihren Geschlechtern ihren Besitz.

Ihr Gebiet war von Aroer an, welches am Ufer des Baches Arnon liegt, und in der Mitte des Tales dieses Baches die ganze Ebene, welche sich nach Medaba zieht,

Hesebon, und alle ihre Ortschaften, die in der Ebene liegen, sowie Dibon und Bamothbaal, und die Stadt Baalmaon,

Jassa, Kedimoth, Mephaath,

Kariathaim, Sabama, Sarathasar auf einem Berge des Tales,

Bethphogor, Asedoth, Phasga und Bethiesimoth,

alle Städte in der Ebene, und das ganze Reich des Sehon, des Königs der Amorrhiter, der in Hesebon herrschte, welchen Moses samt den Fürsten von Madian schlug: dem Heviter, Rekem, Sur, Hur, und Rebe, den Heerführern Sehons, die das Land bewohnten.

Auch Balaam, den Sohn Beors, den Weissager, töteten die Söhne Israels mit dem Schwert samt den übrigen Erschlagenen.

So ward die Grenze für die Söhne Rubens der Jordan. Dies ist der Besitz der Rubeniten nach ihren Geschlechtern an Städten und Dörfern.

Das Land Gad

Und Moses gab dem Stamme Gad und dessen Söhnen nach ihren Geschlechtern gemäß dieser Einteilung ihr Erbe:

Das Gebiet von Jaser, und alle Städte Galaads, und das halbe Land der Söhne Söhne Ammons bis nach Aroer, welches Rabba gegenüberliegt;

und von Hesebon bis Ramoth, Masphe und Betonim, und von Manaim bis zum Gebiete von Dabir;

im Tale ferner: Betharan, Bethnemra, Sokoth, Saphon, der übrige Teil des Reiches Sehons, des Königs von Hesebon; auch seine Grenze ist der Jordan bis zum äußersten Teile des Meeres Keneroth jenseits des Jordans gegen Osten.

Dies ist der Besitz der Söhne Gads nach ihren Familien, ihre Städte und die zu denselben gehörenden Dörfer.

Die Hälfte des Stammes Manasse (Osten)

Auch dem halben Stamme Manasse und seinen Söhnen gab er einen Besitz nach ihren Geschlechtern.

Dieser beginnt von Manaim, dann umfasst er ganz Basan, und das ganze Reich Ogs, des Königs von Basan, und alle Dörfer Jairs, die in Basan liegen, sechzig Städte;

die Hälfte von Galaad, sowie Astaroth und Edrai, die Städte des Reiches Ogs in Basan gab er den Söhnen Machirs, des Sohnes Manasses, der Hälfte der Söhne Machirs nach ihren Geschlechtern.

Dies ist der Besitz, den Moses in den Ebenen Moabs jenseits des Jordans, Jericho gegenüber, auf der Ostseite verteilte.

dem Stamme Levi aber gab er keinen Erbbesitz, weil der Herr, der Gott Israels, selbst sein Erbe ist, wie er zu ihm gesprochen.
