- Kapitel 11 -

You people of Lebanon must open your gates and allow the fire to burn your cedar trees!

Your cypress trees must be like people who are wailing, because enemies have cut down the cedar trees. Those glorious trees are all gone. The oak trees in the region of Bashan should also be like people who are wailing, because enemies have cut down the oak trees in the dense forest.

And listen to the shepherds crying because the fertile pastures have been ruined. Listen to the lions roar; they roar because the thick forest where they live near the Jordan River has been ruined.

This is what Yahweh my God said to me: “I want you to supervise this flock of sheep until the flock perishes.

The dealers in sheep will kill the sheep, and no one will punish them. Those who sell the sheep will say, ‘I praise Yahweh, because I will become rich!’ And the shepherds whom the owners hire do not feel sorry for the sheep.

And similarly, I no longer feel sorry for the people of this country. I am going to allow their fellow countrymen and their king, to oppress them. They will ruin this country, and I will not rescue any of them.”

So I became the shepherd of a flock of sheep that dealers were going to slaughter and to sell the meat. Then I took two shepherds’ staffs. I named the one staff ‘Kindness’ and the other staff ‘Union.’ This is how I began to shepherd the sheep.

But the three shepherds who had been with the flock detested me, and I became impatient with the owners who had hired us all. Within one month I had destroyed those shepherds.

So I said to the dealers, “I will no longer be a shepherd for you. I will allow the ones that are dying to die. I will allow the ones that are getting lost to perish. And I will not prevent those that remain from eating each other.”

Thirty Pieces of Silver

(Matthew 27:3–10)

Then I took the staff that I had named ‘Kindness,’ and I broke it. I did this because Yahweh had told me to cancel the covenant that he had made with all his tribes of Israel.

So that covenant was ended on that very day. The dealers who were watching me knew by seeing what I was doing that I was giving them a message from Yahweh.

I told them, “If you think it is right, pay me for my work. If you do not think it is right, do not pay me.” So they paid me only thirty pieces of silver.

Then Yahweh said to me, “That is a ridiculously small amount of money that they have paid you for your work. So put it into the treasury.” So I took the silver to the temple of Yahweh, and I deposited it in the treasury there.

Then I broke my second staff, the one that I had named “Union.” That indicated that Judah and Israel would no longer be together as brothers.

Then Yahweh said to me, “Take again the things that a foolish shepherd uses,

because I am going to appoint a new shepherd for the people, one who will not take care of my people. He will be a foolish shepherd: He will ignore the dying sheep and those that have gotten lost. As for the healthy sheep, he will not feed them; instead, he will butcher them for his own food and will tear off their hooves.

But terrible things will happen to that foolish shepherd who abandons the flock. May his enemies strike his arm and his right eye with their swords. May he have no more strength in his arm, and may his right eye become completely blind.”

Verwüstung Israels

Öffne, Libanon! deine Pforten und Feuer verzehre deine Zedern!

Wehklage, Tanne, denn die Zeder ist gefallen, die Herrlichsten sind ausgerottet; wehklaget, ihr Eichen Basans! denn die hohe Waldburg wird umgehauen.

Horch! Wehklage der Hirten, denn verwüstet liegt ihre Herrlichkeit; horch! Gebrüll der Löwen, denn verwüstet ist die Pracht des Jordans.

Prophezeiung der Hirten

So spricht der Herr, mein Gott: Weide die zur Schlachtung bestimmten Schafe,

die ihre Besitzer, ohne Schlimmes zu erleiden, schlachten und verkaufen und sagen: Gepriesen sei der Herr, wir werden reich! Und ihre Hirten schonen ihrer nicht.

Darum will auch ich ferner nicht mehr der Bewohner des Landes schonen, spricht der Herr; siehe, ich will die Menschen preisgeben, einen jeden in die Hand seines Nächsten und in die Hand seines Königs; diese werden das Land verderben und ich werde sie nicht aus ihrer Hand retten.

Und darum werde ich die Schafe der Schlachtung weiden, o ihr Ärmsten der Herde! Da nahm ich mir zwei Stäbe: den einen nannte ich Wohlgefallen und den andern nannte ich Band und so weidete ich die Herde.

Und ich schaffte die drei Hirten hinweg in einem Monate und meine Seele wandte sich von ihnen ab, weil auch ihr Sinn sich gegen mich geändert.

Und ich sprach: Ich mag euch nicht mehr hüten! Was sterben soll, sterbe; was ausgerottet werden soll, werde ausgerottet; und die dann noch übrig bleiben, mögen einer des andern Fleisch verzehren.

(Matthäus 27,3-10)

Und ich ergriff meinen Stab, der Wohlfallen hieß, und zerbrach ihn, um meinen Bund aufzulösen, den ich mit allen Völkern geschlossen.

Und er ward an jenem Tage aufgelöst und so erkannten die elendsten Schafe, die auf mich achteten, dass es des Herrn Wort war.

Darauf sprach ich zu ihnen: Scheint es gut in euren Augen, so gebet mir meinen Lohn; wo nicht, so lasset es sein! Da wogen sie als meinen Lohn dreißig Silberlinge dar.

Der Herr aber sprach zu mir: Wirf ihn dem Töpfer hin, den herrlichen Preis, dessen ich von ihnen wert geachtet bin! Da nahm ich die dreißig Silberlinge und warf sie in das Haus des Herrn dem Töpfer zu.

Dann zerbrach ich meinen zweiten Stab, Band genannt, um so die Bruderschaft zwischen Juda und Israel aufzulösen.

Hierauf sprach der Herr zu mir: Nimm dir noch das Gerät eines törichten Hirten!

Denn siehe, ich werde einen Hirten im Lande erstehen lassen, welcher die Verlassenen nicht beachtet, das Versprengte nicht aufsucht, das Verwundete nicht heilt, und das, was noch aufrecht steht, nicht pflegt, sondern das Fleisch der Fetten isst und ihre Klauen zerbricht.

O Hirt und Götzenbild, welcher die Herde verlässt; auf, Schwert, über seinen Arm und sein rechtes Auge! Sein Arm soll vertrocknen und verdorren und sein rechtes Auge sich verfinstern und erblinden!
