- Kapitel 5 -

(1 Chronicles 11:1–3)

Then came all the tribes of Israel to Dauid vnto Hebron, and said thus, Beholde, we are thy bones and thy flesh.

And in time past when Saul was our King, thou leddest Israel in and out: and the Lord hath sayde to thee, Thou shalt feede my people Israel, and thou shalt be a captaine ouer Israel.

So all the Elders of Israel came to the King to Hebron: and King Dauid made a couenant with them in Hebron before the Lord: and they anoynted Dauid King ouer Israel.

Dauid was thirtie yeere olde when he began to reigne: and hee reigned fortie yeere.

In Hebron hee reigned ouer Iudah seuen yeere, and sixe moneths: and in Ierusalem hee reigned thirtie and three yeeres ouer all Israel and Iudah.

David Conquers Jerusalem

(1 Chronicles 11:4–9)

The King also and his men went to Ierusalem vnto the Iebusites, the inhabitants of the land: who spake vnto Dauid, saying, Except thou take away the blinde and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither: thinking that Dauid coulde not come thither.

But Dauid tooke the fort of Zion: this is the citie of Dauid.

Nowe Dauid had sayd the same day, Whosoeuer smiteth the Iebusites, and getteth vp to the gutters and smiteth the lame and blinde, which Dauids soule hateth, I will preferre him: therefore they saide, The blinde and the lame shall not come into that house.

So Dauid dwelt in that forte, and called it the citie of Dauid, and Dauid built rounde about it, from Millo, and inward.

And Dauid prospered and grewe: for the Lord God of hostes was with him.

Hiram also king of Tyrus sent messengers to Dauid, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons for walles: and they built Dauid an house.

David’s Family Grows

(1 Chronicles 14:1–7)

Then Dauid knewe that the Lord had stablished him King ouer Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdome for his people Israels sake.

And Dauid tooke him more concubines and wiues out of Ierusalem, after hee was come from Hebron, and more sonnes and daughters were borne to Dauid.

And these bee the names of the sonnes that were borne vnto him in Ierusale: Shammua, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Salomon,

And Ibhar, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Iaphia,

And Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphalet.

Two Victories over the Philistines

(1 Chronicles 14:8–17)

But when the Philistims hearde that they had anoynted Dauid King ouer Israel, all the Philistims came vp to seeke Dauid: and when Dauid heard, he went downe to a fort.

But the Philistims came, and spred themselues in the valley of Rephaim.

Then Dauid asked counsel of the Lord, saying, Shall I goe vp to the Philistims? wilt thou deliuer them into mine handes? And the Lord answered Dauid, Goe vp: for I will doubtlesse deliuer the Philistims into thine handes.

Then Dauid came to Baal-perazim, and smote them there, and sayde, The Lord hath deuided mine enemies asunder before mee, as waters be deuided asunder: therefore he called the name of that place, Baal-perazim.

And there they left their images, and Dauid and his men burnt them.

Againe the Philistims came vp, and spred themselues in the valley of Rephaim.

And when Dauid asked counsell of the Lord, hee answered, Thou shalt not goe vp, but turne about behinde them, and come vpon them ouer against the mulberie trees.

And when thou hearest the noyse of one going in the toppes of the mulberie trees, then remoue: for then shall the Lord goe out before thee, to smite the hoste of the Philistims.

Then Dauid did so as the Lord had commanded him, and smote the Philistims from Geba, vntil thou come to Gazer.

David regiert über ganz Israel

(1. Chronik 11,1-3)

Darauf kamen alle Stämme Israels zu David nach Hebron und sprachen: Siehe, wir sind dein Fleisch und dein Bein!

Schon gestern und ehedem, als Saul noch König über uns war, warst du es, der Israel ausführte und zurückführte, der Herr aber hat zu dir gesagt: Du sollst der Hirt meines Volkes Israel sein und du sollst der Fürst sein über Israel.

Auch kamen die Ältesten von Israel zu dem Könige nach Hebron und der König David schloss mit ihnen einen Bund in Hebron vor dem Herrn und sie salbten David zum Könige über Israel.

Dreißig Jahre war David alt, als er König wurde, und vierzig Jahre herrschte er.

In Hebron herrschte er über Juda sieben Jahre und sechs Monate und in Jerusalem herrschte er dreiunddreißig Jahre über ganz Israel und Juda.

Die Eroberung von Jerusalem

(1. Chronik 11,4-9)

Als nun der König mit allen Männern, die bei ihm waren, vor Jerusalem gegen die Jebusiter, welche das Land bewohnten, zog, sprachen diese zu David: Du wirst hier nicht hereinkommen, es sei denn du schaffst die Blinden und die Lahmen weg, welche sagen: David wird hier nicht eindringen.

Aber David nahm die Burg Sion, das ist die Stadt Davids, ein.

David hatte nämlich an jenem Tage einen Preis für den ausgesetzt, der die Jebusiter schlagen und bis zu den Wasserrinnen der Häuser gelangen und die Blinden und Lahmen wegschaffen würde, welche David hassten. Darum heißt es im Sprichworte: Der Blinde und der Lahme sollen nicht in den Tempel kommen.

Hierauf nahm David in der Burg Wohnung und nannte sie Davidsstadt und führte ringsum Bauten auf, von Mello an und nach innen zu.

Und David nahm immer mehr zu und gedieh und der Herr der Gott der Heerscharen, war mit ihm.

Auch sandte Hiram, der König von Thyrus, Boten an David und Zedernholz und Zimmerleute und Steinmetzen zu Bauten und sie bauten David ein Haus.

(1. Chronik 14,1-7)

Und David erkannte, dass ihn der Herr zum Könige über Israel bestätigt und seine Herrschaft über sein Volk Israel erhöht habe.

David also nahm aus Jerusalem noch andere Nebenweiber und Frauen, nachdem er von Hebron gekommen war, und es wurden dem David noch andere Söhne und Töchter geboren.

Dies sind die Namen derjenigen, welche ihm in Jerusalem geboren wurden: Samua, Sobab, Nathan, Salomon,

Jebahar, Elisua, Nepheg,

Japhia, Elisama, Elioda und Eliphaleth.

Die Philister werden besiegt

(1. Chronik 14,8-17)

Als nun die Philister hörten, dass David zum Könige über Israel gesalbt sei, zogen sie insgesamt herauf, um David aufzusuchen. Da David dies hörte, zog er in die Bergfeste hinab.

Die Philister aber rückten heran und breiteten sich im Tale Raphaim aus.

Da befragte David den Herrn und sprach: Soll ich gegen die Philister hinaufziehen? Und wirst du sie in meine Hand geben? Der Herr sprach zu David: Ziehe hinauf, denn ich werde die Philister in deine Hand geben.

David kam also nach Baal-Pharasim und schlug sie daselbst und sprach: Der Herr hat meine Feinde vor mir zerteilt, wie sich die Wasser teilen. Darum nannte man den Namen dieses Ortes Baal-Pharasim.

Daselbst ließen sie ihre geschnitzten Götzenbilder zurück, David aber und seine Männer nahmen sie weg.

Ein anderes Mal zogen die Philister herauf und breiteten sich im Tale Raphaim aus.

Da befragte David den Herrn: Soll ich gegen die Philister hinaufziehen und wirst du sie in meine Hand geben? Er antwortete: Ziehe nicht gegen sie hinauf, sondern umgehe sie im Rücken und nähere dich ihnen von der Seite der Birnbäume her.

Wenn du ein Rauschen hörst, wie wenn etwas über die Wipfel der Birnbäume hinführe, dann beginne den Kampf; denn alsdann wird der Herr vor dir herziehen, um das Heerlager der Philister zu schlagen.

Da tat David, wie der Herr ihm geboten hatte, und er schlug die Philister von Gabaa bis wo man nach Gezer kommt.
