- Kapitel 7 -

(Psalm 136:1–26)

And when Salomon had made an ende of praying, fire came downe from heauen, and consumed the burnt offring and the sacrifices: and the glory of the Lord filled the house,

So that the Priestes could not euter into the house of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord had filled the Lordes house.

And when all the children of Israel saw the fire, and the glory of the Lord come downe vpon the house, they bowed themselues with their faces to the earth vpon the pauement, and worshipped and praysed the Lord, saying, For he is good, because his mercy lasteth for euer.

Sacrifices of Dedication

(1 Kings 8:62–66)

Then the King and all the people offred sacrifices before the Lord.

And King Salomon offered a sacrifice of two and twentie thousand bullockes, and an hundreth and twentie thousand sheepe. so the King and all the people dedicated the house of God.

And the Priests waited on their offices, and the Leuites with the instruments of musicke of the Lord, which King Dauid had made to praise the Lord, Because his mercy lasteth for euer: whe Dauid praysed God by them, the Priestes also blewe trumpets ouer against them: and all they of Israel stoode by.

Moreouer Salomon halowed the middle of the court that was before the house of the Lord: for there hee had prepared burnt offerings, and the fatte of the peace offerings, because the brasen altar which Salomon had made, was not able to receiue the burnt offering, and the meate offring, and the fat.

And Salomon made a feast at that time of seuen dayes, and all Israel with him, a very great Congregation, from the entring in of Hamath, vnto the riuer of Egypt.

And in the eight day they made a solemne assemblie: for they had made the dedication of the altar seuen daies, and the feast seuen dayes.

And the three and twentieth day of the seuenth moneth, he sent the people away into their tentes, ioyous and with glad heart, because of the goodnesse that the Lord had done for Dauid and for Salomon, and for Israel his people.

The LORD’s Response to Solomon

(1 Kings 9:1–9)

So Salomon finished the house of the Lord, and the Kings house, and all that came into Salomons heart to make in the house of the Lord: and he prospered in his house.

And the Lord appeared to Salomon by night and said to him, I haue heard thy prayer, and haue chosen this place for my selfe to be an house of sacrifice.

If I shut the heauen that there be no raine, or if I commaund the grashopper to deuoure the lande, or if I sende pestilence among my people,

If my people, among whome my Name is called vpon, doe humble them selues, and praye, and seeke my presence, and turne from their wicked wayes, then will I heare in heauen, and be mercifull to their sinne, and wil heale their land:

Then mine eies shalbe open and mine eares attent vnto the prayer made in this place.

For I haue nowe chosen and sanctified this house, that my Name may be there for euer: and mine eyes and mine heart shalbe there perpetually.

And if thou wilt walke before me, as Dauid thy father walked, to doe according vnto all that I haue commanded thee, and shalt obserue my statutes and my iudgements,

Then will I stablish the throne of thy kingdome, according as I made the couenant with Dauid thy father, saying, Thou shalt not want a man to be ruler in Israel.

But if ye turne away, and forsake my statutes and my commandements which I haue set before you, and shall goe and serue other gods, and worshippe them,

Then will I plucke them vp out of my lande, which I haue giuen them, and this house which I haue sanctified for my Name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it to be a prouerbe and a common talke among all people.

And this house which is most hie, shall be an astonishment to euery one that passeth by it, so that he shall say, Why hath the Lord done thus to this lande, and to this house?

And they shall answere, Because they forsooke the Lord God of their fathers, which brought them out of the lande of Egypt, and haue taken holde on other gods, and haue worshipped them, and serued them, therefore hath he brought all this euill vpon them.

Salomo weiht den Tempel ein

(Psalm 136,1-26)

Als nun Salomon sein Gebet vollendet hatte, fiel Feuer vom Himmel herab und verzehrte die Brandopfer und die anderen Opfer; und die Herrlichkeit des Herrn erfüllte das Haus.

Da vermochten die Priester nicht, in den Tempel des Herrn einzutreten, denn die Herrlichkeit des Herrn hatte den Tempel des Herrn erfüllt.

Und alle Söhne Israels sahen das Feuer und die Herrlichkeit des Herrn über das Haus herniederkommen und fielen auf ihr Angesicht zur Erde auf das Steinpflaster nieder und beteten den Herrn an und priesen ihn, dass er gütig, dass seine Barmherzigkeit in Ewigkeit währt.

(1. Könige 8,62-66)

Der König aber und das ganze Volk schlachteten Opfer vor dem Herrn.

Der König Salomon schlachtete als Opfer zweiundzwanzigtausend Rinder und hundertzwanzigtausend Widder, und so weihten der König und das ganze Volk das Haus Gottes ein.

Die Priester aber lagen ihren Dienstverrichtungen ob, und die Leviten spielten auf den Saitenspielen zu den Liedern des Herrn, welche der König David hatte anfertigen lassen, den Herrn zu loben, dass seine Barmherzigkeit ewig währt, und zu den Lobgesängen Davids; die Priester aber bliesen vor ihnen die Trompeten und ganz Israel stand dabei.

Und Salomon weihte den Mittelteil des Vorhofes vor dem Tempel des Herrn; denn dort brachte er die Brandopfer und das Fett der Friedopfer dar, weil der eherne Altar, den er gemacht hatte, die Brandopfer und Speiseopfer und die Fettstücke nicht zu fassen vermochte.

So feierte Salomon zu jener Zeit das Fest sieben Tage lang und ganz Israel mit ihm, eine sehr große Versammlung, vom Eingang nach Emath an bis zum Strome Ägyptens.

Und am achten Tage hielt er eine Festversammlung, denn sieben Tage hatte er den Altar eingeweiht und sieben Tage das Fest gefeiert.

Am dreiundzwanzigsten Tage des siebenten Monats aber entließ er das Volk in seine Hütten, fröhlich und sich freuend ob des Guten, welches der Herr an David und Salomon und an seinem Volke Israel getan hatte.

(1. Könige 9,1-9)

So vollendete Salomon das Haus des Herrn und das Haus des Königs und alles, was er im Sinne gehabt hatte, im Hause des Herrn und in seinem Hause zu tun, und er brachte es zu Ende.

Die zweite Erscheinung Gottes vor Salomo

Da erschien der Herr ihm des Nachts und sprach: Ich habe dein Gebet gehört und mir diesen Ort zur Opferstätte erwählt.

Wenn ich den Himmel verschließe, so dass kein Regen fällt, wenn ich den Heuschrecken gebiete, das Land abzufressen, wenn ich Pest unter mein Volk sende,

mein Volk aber, über das mein Name angerufen ist, sich bekehrt und zu mir fleht und mein Antlitz sucht und Buße tut von seinen schlimmen Wegen, so will ich es vom Himmel her erhören und ihre Sünden vergeben und ihrem Lande Heilung gewähren.

Auch sollen meine Augen offen stehen und meine Ohren aufmerken auf das Gebet desjenigen, der an diesem Orte betet.

Denn ich habe diesen Ort erwählt und geheiligt, dass mein Name auf ewig daselbst sei und meine Augen und mein Herz sollen allezeit dort weilen.

wenn du nun vor mir wandelst, so wie dein Vater David gewandelt ist, und allem gemäß tust, was ich dir geboten habe, und meine Gebote und Rechte hältst,

so werde ich den Thron deiner Herrschaft aufrecht erhalten, wie ich deinem Vater David verheißen habe, indem ich sprach: Nie soll es deinem Stamme an einem Manne gebrechen, der über Israel Fürst sei.

Wenn ihr euch aber abkehrt und meine Satzungen und Gebote, die ich euch vorgelegt habe, verlasset und abtrünnig werdet und fremden Göttern dient und diese anbetet,

so werde ich euch aus meinem Lande, das ich euch gegeben habe, ausrotten und ich werde dieses Haus, das ich meinem Namen geheiligt habe, verwerfen und es zum Sprichwort und zum Beispiel für alle Völker machen.

Und dieses Haus wird allen, die vorübergehen, zum Sprichworte werden und sie werden sich entsetzen und sagen: Warum hat der Herr solches an diesem Lande und diesem Hause getan?

Dann wird man antworten: Weil sie den Herrn, den Gott ihrer Väter, der sie aus dem Lande Ägypten geführt, verlassen und fremden Göttern angehangen und diese angebetet und verehrt haben, darum ist all dies Unheil über sie gekommen.
