- Kapitel 2 -

(Matthew 9:1–8; Luke 5:17–26)

And after some days, he again entered into Capernaum.

And it was heard that he was in the house. And so many gathered that there was no room left, not even at the door. And he spoke the word to them.

And they came to him, bringing a paralytic, who was being carried by four men.

And when they were not able to present him to him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where he was. And opening it, they lowered down the stretcher on which the paralytic was lying.

Then, when Jesus had seen their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.”

But some of the scribes were sitting in that place and thinking in their hearts:

“Why is this man speaking in this way? He is blaspheming. Who can forgive sins, but God alone?”

At once, Jesus, realizing in his spirit that they were thinking this within themselves, said to them: “Why are you thinking these things in your hearts?

Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Rise up, take up your stretcher, and walk?’

But so that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins,” he said to the paralytic:

“I say to you: Rise up, take up your stretcher, and go into your house.”

And immediately he got up, and lifting up his stretcher, he went away in the sight of them all, so that they all wondered. And they honored God, by saying, “We have never seen anything like this.”

Jesus Calls Levi

(Matthew 9:9–13; Luke 5:27–32)

And he departed again to the sea. And the entire crowd came to him, and he taught them.

And as he was passing by, he saw Levi of Alphaeus, sitting at the customs office. And he said to him, “Follow me.” And rising up, he followed him.

And it happened that, as he sat at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners sat at table together with Jesus and his disciples. For those who followed him were many.

And the scribes and the Pharisees, seeing that he ate with tax collectors and sinners, said to his disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”(a)

Jesus, having heard this, said to them: “The healthy have no need of a doctor, but those who have maladies do. For I came not to call the just, but sinners.”

Questions about Fasting

(Matthew 9:14–15; Luke 5:33–35)

And the disciples of John, and the Pharisees, were fasting. And they arrived and said to him, “Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?”

And Jesus said to them: “How can the sons of the wedding fast while the groom is still with them? During whatever time they have the groom with them, they are not able to fast.

But the days will arrive when the groom will be taken away from them, and then they shall fast, in those days.

The Patches and the Wineskins

(Matthew 9:16–17; Luke 5:36–39)

No one sews a patch of new cloth onto an old garment. Otherwise, the new addition pulls away from the old, and the tear becomes worse.

And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the wineskins, and the wine will pour out, and the wineskins will be lost. Instead, new wine must be put into new wineskins.”

The Lord of the Sabbath

(1 Samuel 21:1–7; Matthew 12:1–8; Luke 6:1–5)

And again, while the Lord was walking through the ripe grain on the Sabbath, his disciples, as they advanced, began to separate the ears of grains.

But the Pharisees said to him, “Behold, why are they doing what is not lawful on the Sabbaths?”

And he said to them: “Have you never read what David did, when he had need and was hungry, both he and those who were with him?

How he went into the house of God, under the high priest Abiathar, and ate the bread of the Presence, which it was not lawful to eat, except for the priests, and how he gave it to those who were with him?”

And he said to them: “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.

And so, the Son of man is Lord, even of the Sabbath.”

Jesus verzeiht und heilt einen Gelähmten

(Matthäus 9,1-8; Lukas 5,17-26)

Nach einigen Tagen kam er wieder nach Kapharnaum.

Und als es bekannt ward, dass er im Hause sei, kamen viele zusammen, so dass sie sogar der Platz vor der Türe nicht fasste, und er redete zu ihnen das Wort.

Da kamen einige zu ihm, und brachten einen Gelähmten, der von vieren getragen wurde.

Und weil sie ihn vor der Volksmenge nicht zu ihm bringen konnten, deckten sie das Dach ab, wo er war; und indem sie eine Öffnung machten, ließen sie das Bett hinab, auf dem der Gelähmte lag.

Als nun Jesus ihren Glauben sah, sprach er zu dem Gelähmten: Mein Sohn! deine Sünden sind dir vergeben.

Es saßen aber einige von den Schriftgelehrten daselbst, und dachten in ihren Herzen:

Was redet dieser so? Er lästert Gott! Wer kann Sünden vergeben, als Gott allein?

Da Jesus alsbald in seinem Geist erkannte, dass sie so bei sich dachten, sprach er zu ihnen: Warum denkt ihr solches in euren Herzen?

Was ist leichter, zu dem Gelähmten zu sagen: Deine Sünden sind dir vergeben – oder zu sagen: Stehe auf, nimm dein Bett, und wandle?

Damit ihr aber wisset, dass der Menschensohn Macht hat auf Erden Sünden zu vergeben, - sagte er zu dem Gelähmten:

Ich sage dir: Stehe auf, nimm dein Bett, und gehe in dein Haus!

Und sogleich stand dieser auf, nahm sein Bett, und ging vor den Augen aller davon, so dass sich alle verwunderten, Gott lobpriesen, und sprachen: Niemals haben wir so etwas gesehen!

Matthäus der Steuereintreiber

(Matthäus 9,9-13; Lukas 5,27-32)

Er ging nun wiederum hinaus an das Meer, und alles Volk kam zu ihm, und er lehrte sie.

Im Vorbeigehen sah er Levi, den Sohn des Alphäus, an der Zollstelle sitzen, und sprach zu ihm: Folge mir nach! Und er stand auf, und folgte ihm.

Und es begab sich, da er in dessen Hause zu Tische saß, dass viele Zöllner und Sünder zugleich mit Jesus zu Tische saßen; denn es waren ihrer viele, die ihm auch nachfolgten.

Da sahen die Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer, dass er mit den Zöllnern und Sündern aß, und sie sprachen zu seinen Jüngern: Warum ißt und trinkt euer Meister mit den Zöllnern und Sündern?

Als Jesus dies hörte, sprach er zu ihnen: Nicht die Gesunden bedürfen des Arztes, sondern die Kranken; denn ich bin nicht gekommen, Gerechte zu berufen, sondern Sünder.

Jesus wird über das Fasten befragt

(Matthäus 9,14-15; Lukas 5,33-35)

Nun pflegten die Jünger des Johannes und die Pharisäer zu fasten. Und sie kommen und sprechen zu ihm: Warum fasten die Jünger des Johannes und jene der Pharisäer, deine Jünger aber fasten nicht?

Und Jesus sprach zu ihnen: Können denn die Hochzeitsleute fasten, solange der Bräutigam bei ihnen ist? So lange sie den Bräutigam bei sich haben, können sie nicht fasten.

Es werden aber Tage kommen, da der Bräutigam von ihnen genommen wird; und dann werden sie fasten in jenen Tagen.

(Matthäus 9,16-17; Lukas 5,36-39)

Niemand näht ein Fleck von neuem Tuche auf ein altes Kleid, sonst reißt das neue Stück von dem alten ab und ein ärgerer Riss entsteht.

Und niemand gießt neuen Wein in alte Schläuche, sonst wird der Wein die Schläuche zerreißen, der Wein wird auslaufen, und die Schläuche werden verderben; sondern neuer Wein muss in neue Schläuche gefasst werden.

Jesus ist Herr über den Sabbat

(1. Samuel 21,1-7; Matthäus 12,1-8; Lukas 6,1-5)

Und es geschah wiederum, da der Herr am Sabbate durch die Saatfelder wandelte, begannen seine Jünger im Dahingehen Ähren abzubrechen.

Da sagten die Pharisäer zu ihm: Siehe, warum tun sie am Sabbate, was nicht erlaubt ist?

Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Habt ihr niemals gelesen, was David tat, als er Not litt und hungerte, er selbst und die bei ihm waren?

Wie er zur Zeit des Hohenpriesters Abiathar in das Haus Gottes ging, und die Schaubrote aß, welche niemand essen durfte als die Priester, und wie er denen, die bei ihm waren, davon gab?

Und er sprach zu ihnen: Der Sabbat ist um des Menschen willen gemacht, nicht der Mensch um des Sabbats willen.

Darum ist der Menschensohn Herr auch über den Sabbat.
