- Kapitel 23 -

1
“Woe to the shepherds who scatter and tear apart the sheep of my pasture, says the Lord.
2
Because of this, thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, to the shepherds who pasture my people: You have scattered my flock, and you have driven them away, and you have not visited them. Behold, I will visit upon you because of your evil pursuits, says the Lord.
3
And I will gather together the remnant of my flock from the entire earth, from the places to which I had cast them out. And I will return them to their own fields. And they will increase and be multiplied.(a)
4
And I will raise up shepherds over them, and they will pasture them. They will no longer dread, and they will no longer fear. And no one among their number will be seeking more, says the Lord.
5
Behold, the days are approaching, says the Lord, when I will raise up to David a righteous branch. And a king will reign, and he will be wise. And he will exercise judgment and justice upon the earth.
6
In those days, Judah will be saved, and Israel will live in confidence. And this is the name that they will call him: ‘The Lord, our Just One.’
7
Because of this, behold, the days are approaching, says the Lord, when they will no longer say, ‘As the Lord lives, who led the sons of Israel away from the land of Egypt,’
8
but instead, ‘As the Lord lives, who led away and brought back the offspring of the house of Israel from the land of the north and from the entire earth,’ from the places to which I had cast them out. And they will live in their own land.”

Lying Prophets

9
To the prophets: “My heart is crushed within me. All my bones are trembling. I have become like an inebriated man, and like a man maddened by wine, before the face of the Lord, and before the face of his holy words.
10
For the earth is full of adulterers! And the earth has mourned before the face of evil talk. The plains of the desert have dried up, and their course has become hazardous, and their firmness has become uneven.”
11
“For both the prophet and the priest have become polluted, and I have found their wickedness within my own house, says the Lord.
12
For this reason, their way will be like a slippery path in the dark. For they will be impelled forward, and they will fall in it. For I will bring evils over them, in the year of their visitation, says the Lord.
13
And I have seen the foolishness of the prophets of Samaria. They have prophesied in Baal, and they have deceived my people Israel.
14
And in the prophets of Jerusalem, I have seen the likeness of adulterers and the path of falsehood. And they have strengthened the hands of the wicked, so that each one would not convert from his malice. They have all become to me like Sodom, and its inhabitants have become like Gomorrah.”

Because of this, thus says the Lord of hosts to the prophets: “Behold, I will feed them absinthe, and I will give them gall to drink. For from the prophets of Jerusalem corruption has gone forth over the entire earth.”
16
Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Do not choose to listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you and deceive you. They speak a vision from their own heart, and not from the mouth of the Lord.
17
To those who blaspheme me, they say: ‘The Lord has said: You shall have peace.’ And to everyone who walks in the depravity of his own heart, they have said: ‘No evil will overwhelm you.’ ”
18
For who has been present in the counsel of the Lord, and who has seen and heard his word? Who has considered his word and heard it?
19
Behold, the whirlwind of the Lord’s indignation will go forth, and a tempest will break out; it will overwhelm the head of the impious.
20
The fury of the Lord will not return until it succeeds, and until it completes the plan of his heart. In the last days, you will understand this counsel.
21
“I did not send these prophets, yet they hurry forward. I was not speaking to them, yet they were prophesying.
22
If they had stood in my counsel, and if I had made my words known to my people, certainly I would have turned them away from their evil ways and from their most wicked plans.
23
Do you not realize that I am a God close by, says the Lord, and not a God far away?
24
If a man is hidden in concealed places, do I not see him, says the Lord? Do I not fill up heaven and earth, says the Lord?
25
I have heard what the prophets have said, prophesying falsehoods in my name, and also saying: ‘I have dreamed! I have dreamed!’
26
How long will this be in the heart of the prophets who predict what is false, and who prophesy deceptions from their own heart?
27
They want to cause my people to forget my name, by means of their dreams, which each of them describes to his neighbor, just as their fathers forgot my name for the sake of Baal.
28
The prophet who has had a dream, let him describe the dream. And he who receives my word, let him speak my word in truth. For what has the chaff to do with the wheat, says the Lord?
29
Are not my words like a fire, says the Lord, and like a hammer crushing rock?
30
Therefore, behold: I am against the prophets, says the Lord, who steal my words, each one from his neighbor.
31
Behold, I am against the prophets, says the Lord, who take up their tongues and say: ‘The Lord says it.’
32
Behold, I am against the prophets, who dream what is false, says the Lord; who explain and so seduce my people with their falsehoods and with their miracles, though I did not send them, nor did I command them. They have offered nothing beneficial to this people, says the Lord.

False Prophecies

33
Therefore, if this people, or a prophet, or a priest questions you, saying, ‘What is the burden of the Lord?’ you shall say to them, ‘You are the burden. And certainly I will cast you away, says the Lord.’
34
And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the people who say, ‘The burden of the Lord!’ I will visit upon that man and upon his house.(b)
35
And then you will speak in this way, each one to his neighbor and to his brother: ‘What has the Lord answered? And what has the Lord said?’
36
And the burden of the Lord will no longer be called to mind. For each one’s own word will be a burden. For you have perverted the words of the living God, of the Lord of hosts, our God.
37
And then you will speak in this way to the prophet: ‘What has the Lord answered you? And what has the Lord spoken?’
38
But if you say, ‘The burden of the Lord!’ then because of this, thus says the Lord: Since you have spoken this word, ‘The burden of the Lord!’ though I sent to you telling you not to say: ‘The burden of the Lord,’
39
because of this, behold, I will take you away, like a burden, and I will forsake you, as well as the city that I gave to you and to your fathers, before my face.(c) (d)

And I will give you over to an everlasting reproach and an eternal disgrace, which shall never be wiped away into oblivion.”

Der Zweig der Rechtschaffenheit

Wehe den Hirten, welche die Herde meiner Weide zugrunde richten und zerfleischen! spricht der Herr.

Darum spricht der Herr, der Gott Israels, also über die Hirten, die mein Volk weiden: Ihr habt meine Herde zerstreut und versprengt und sie nicht beaufsichtigt; sehet, so will ich an euch die Bosheit eures Treibens heimsuchen, spricht der Herr.

Aber die Überbleibsel meiner Herde will ich aus allen Landen, in die ich sie verstoßen habe, sammeln und will sie auf ihre Triften zurückführen und sie sollen fruchtbar sein und sich mehren.
4
Und ich will Hirten über sie bestellen, welche sie weiden sollen, und sie sollen sich nicht mehr fürchten und zagen und keiner soll vermisst werden aus ihrer Zahl, spricht der Herr.
5
Sehet, es kommt die Zeit, spricht der Herr, dass ich David einen gerechten Spross erwecke; er wird als König herrschen und weise sein und Recht und Gerechtigkeit auf Erden üben.
6
In jenen Tagen wird Juda Hilfe erlangen und Israel in Zuversicht wohnen und dies ist der Name, mit dem man ihn nennen wird: Der Herr, unser Gerechter!

Darum sehet, es kommt die Zeit, spricht der Herr, da man nicht mehr sagen wird: So wahr der Herr lebt, der die Söhne Israels aus dem Lande Ägypten geführt hat!

sondern: So wahr der Herr lebt, der die Angehörigen des Hauses Israel aus dem Lande gegen Mitternacht und aus allen Ländern, in die ich sie verstoßen hatte, herausgeführt und herbeigebracht hat, dass sie wieder in ihrem Lande wohnen!

Falsche Propheten und leere Orakel

Über die Propheten: Mein Herz ist in meinem Innern gebrochen, alle meine Gebeine zittern; ich bin wie ein trunkener Mann, wie ein Mensch, den der Wein völlig überwältigt hat vor dem Herrn und seinem heiligen Worte.

Denn voll von Ehebrechern ist das Land, ja, wegen des Fluches trauert das Land und verdorrt sind die Gefilde der Trift; ihr Laufen zielt auf das Böse und ihre Kraft wenden sie übel an.

Denn Prophet wie Priester haben sich befleckt, sogar in meinem Hause stieß ich auf ihre Bosheit, spricht der Herr.
12
Darum soll ihr Weg wie ein schlüpfriger Ort in der Finsternis werden, sie sollen fortgestoßen werden, dass sie auf ihm zu Falle kommen; denn ich werde Unglück über sie bringen im Jahre ihrer Strafe, spricht der Herr.
13
Auch an den Propheten von Samaria sah ich Torheit, sie weissagten im Namen Baals und täuschten mein Volk Israel.
14
Aber an den Propheten zu Jerusalem sah ich Nachahmung der Ehebrecher und Wandel der Lüge; sie bestärkten die Ruchlosen in ihrem Tun, so dass sich niemand von seiner Bosheit bekehrte, sie sind mir alle wie Sodoma geworden und ihre Bewohner wie Gomorrha.

Darum spricht der Herr der Heerscharen also über die Propheten: Sehet, ich will sie mit Wermut speisen und mit Galle tränken, denn von den Propheten Jerusalems ist die Befleckung ausgegangen über das ganze Land.

So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen: Höret nicht auf die Worte der Propheten, die euch weissagen und euch täuschen; sie verkünden Gesichte, die ihr eigenes Herz, nicht der Mund des Herrn eingegeben!
17
Sie sagen zu denen, die mich lästern: Der Herr hat gesagt: Es wird euch Friede zuteil werden, und zu jedem, der in der Verkehrtheit seines Herzens dahinwandelt, sagen sie: Kein Unglück wird über euch kommen!

Denn wer hat am Rate des Herrn teilgenommen, dass er sein Wort gesehen und gehört hätte? Wer hat auf sein Wort gelauscht und es gehört?
19
Sehet, der Sturm des Grimmes des Herrn wird losbrechen und ein Wetter wird einherbrausen und über das Haupt der Frevler kommen.
20
Nicht wird der Grimm des Herrn ablassen, bis er seines Herzens Gedanken vollbracht und ausgeführt hat; in der letzten Zeit werdet ihr seinen Ratschluss begreifen.
21
Ich habe diese Propheten nicht gesendet und doch liefen sie, ich habe nicht zu ihnen geredet und doch weissagten sie.
22
Hätten sie in meinem Rate gestanden und meine Worte meinem Volke kundgetan, so würde ich sie gewiss von ihrem bösen Wege und ihren Boshaften Gesinnungen zurückgebracht haben.

Bin ich denn ein Gott nur in der Nähe, spricht der Herr, und nicht auch ein Gott aus der Ferne?
24
Kann jemand sich so geheim verbergen, dass ich ihn nicht sehen sollte? spricht der Herr. Erfülle ich nicht Himmel und Erde? spricht der Herr.
25
Ich habe gehört, was die Propheten sagen, welche in meinem Namen Lüge weissagen und sprechen: Ich habe ein Traumgesicht gehabt, ich habe ein Traumgesicht gehabt!
26
Wie lange haben die Propheten solches im Sinn, sie, die Lüge weissagen und ihres Herzens Trug prophezeien?
27
Sie wollen machen, dass mein Volk um ihrer Träume willen, die sie einer dem andern erzählen, meines Namens vergesse, so wie ihre Väter um des Baals willen meines Namens vergaßen.
28
Der Prophet, der ein Traumgesicht hat, mag ein Traumgesicht erzählen, und der mein Wort hat, rede mein Wort unverfälscht! Was hat die Spreu mit dem Weizen gemein? spricht der Herr.
29
Sind meine Worte nicht wie Feuer, spricht der Herr, und wie ein Hammer, der Felsen zerschmettert?
30
Darum sehet, ich will wider die Propheten aufstehen, spricht der Herr, die meine Worte stehlen, einer dem andern.
31
Sehet, ich will mich wider die Propheten erheben, spricht der Herr, die ihr eigenes Wort vorbringen und sagen: So spricht der Herr!
32
Sehet, spricht der Herr, ich will mich wider die Propheten erheben, die lügenhafte Traumgesichte haben und solche erzählen und mein Volk mit ihren Lügen und ihren Gaukeleien irreführen, da ich sie doch nicht gesandt noch beauftragt habe, sie, die diesem Volke nichts nützen, spricht der Herr.

Wenn ich nun dieses Volk oder ein Prophet oder ein Priester fragt und spricht: Was ist die Last des Herrn? so sprich zu ihnen: Ihr seid die Last, doch ich werde euch abwerfen, spricht der Herr.

Und der Prophet und der Priester, und die Leute, welche sprechen werden: Last des Herrn! an einem solchen und an seinem Hause will ich es heimsuchen und strafen.
35
So sollt ihr ein jeder zueinander und zu seinem Nächsten sprechen: Was hat der Herr geantwortet? Und was hat der Herr geredet?
36
Aber eine Last des Herrn sollt ihr nicht mehr vorbringen, denn die Last wird für einen jeden sein eigenes Wort sein, weil ihr die Worte des lebendigen Gottes, des Herrn der Heerscharen, unsers Gottes, verdreht habt.
37
So sollst du nun zu dem Propheten sagen: Was hat dir der Herr geantwortet? Und was hat dir der Herr geredet?
38
Wenn ihr aber Last des Herrn sagt, so spricht der Herr also: Weil ihr dies Wort aussprecht: Last des Herrn! während ich euch doch sagen ließ: Saget nicht: Last des Herrn!
39
darum will ich euch aufheben und aus meinen Augen schaffen, samt der Stadt, die ich euch und euern Vätern gegeben habe.
40
Und ich werde ewige Schmach und immerwährende Schande über euch bringen, die nimmer in Vergessenheit kommen soll.
