- Kapitel 37 -

The hand of the Lord was set upon me, and he led me away in the Spirit of the Lord, and he released me in the midst of a plain which was full of bones.

And he led me around, through them, on every side. Now they were very many upon the face of the plain, and they were exceedingly dry.

And he said to me, “Son of man, do you think that these bones will live?” And I said, “O Lord God, you know.”

And he said to me, “Prophesy about these bones. And you shall say to them: Dry bones, listen to the word of the Lord!

Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will send spirit into you, and you shall live.(a)

And I will set sinews upon you, and I will cause flesh to grow over you, and I will extend skin over you. And I will give you spirit, and you shall live. And you shall know that I am the Lord.”

And I prophesied, just as he had instructed me. But a noise occurred, as I was prophesying, and behold: a commotion. And the bones joined together, each one at its joint.

And I saw, and behold: sinews and flesh rose up over them; and skin was extended over them. But they had no spirit within them.

And he said to me: “Prophesy to the spirit! Prophesy, O son of man, and you shall say to the spirit: Thus says the Lord God: Approach, O spirit, from the four winds, and blow across these ones who were slain, and revive them.”

And I prophesied, just as he had instructed me. And spirit entered into them, and they lived. And they stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army.

And he said to me: “Son of man: All these bones are the house of Israel. They say: ‘Our bones are dried out, and our hope has perished, and we have been cut off.’

Because of this, prophesy, and you shall say to them: Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will open your tombs, and I will lead you away from your sepulchers, O my people. And I will lead you into the land of Israel.

And you shall know that I am the Lord, when I will have opened your sepulchers, and when I will have led you away from your tombs, O my people.

And I will place my Spirit within you, and you shall live. And I will cause you to rest upon your own soil. And you shall know that I, the Lord, have spoken and acted, says the Lord God.”

One Nation with One King

And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

“And as for you, son of man, take up a piece of wood for yourself, and write upon it: ‘For Judah, and for the sons of Israel, his companions.’ And take up another piece of wood, and write upon it: ‘For Joseph, the wood of Ephraim, and for the entire house of Israel, and for his companions.’

And join these, one to the other, for yourself, as one piece of wood. And they will be united in your hand.

Then, when the sons of your people will speak to you, saying: ‘Will you not tell us what you intend by this?’

you shall say to them: Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will take up the wood of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel, which are joined to him, and I will put them together with the wood of Judah, and I will make them one piece of wood. And they will be one in his hand.

Then the pieces of wood, on which you have written, will be in your hand, before their eyes.

And you shall say to them: Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will take up the sons of Israel, from the midst of the nations to which they have gone, and I will gather them together on every side, and I will lead them onto their own soil.

And I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel, and one king will be ruler over all. And they will no longer be two nations, nor will they be divided any more into two kingdoms.

And they will no longer be defiled by their idols, and by their abominations, and by all their iniquities. And I will save them, out of all the settlements in which they have sinned, and I will cleanse them. And they will be my people, and I will be their God.

And my servant David shall be the king over them, and they shall have one shepherd. They shall walk in my judgments, and they shall keep my commandments, and they shall do them.

And they shall live upon the land that I gave to my servant Jacob, in which your fathers lived. And they shall live upon it, they and their sons, and the sons of their sons, even for all time. And David, my servant, shall be their leader, in perpetuity.

And I will strike a covenant of peace with them. This will be an everlasting covenant for them. And I will establish them, and multiply them. And I will set my sanctuary in their midst, unceasingly.

And my tabernacle shall be among them. And I will be their God, and they will be my people.

And the Gentiles shall know that I am the Lord, the Sanctifier of Israel, when my sanctuary will be in their midst, forever.”

Die dürren Gebeine leben

Die Hand des Herrn kam über mich und führte mich hinaus im Geiste des Herrn und ließ mich nieder inmitten eines Feldes, das voll von Gebeinen war.

Und er führte mich an ihnen ringsum vorüber, es waren ihrer sehr viele über das Feld hin zerstreut und sie waren ganz dürr.

Da sprach er zu mir: Menschensohn! werden wohl diese Gebeine wieder lebendig werden? Ich antwortete: Herr, Gott, du weißt es!

Da sprach er zu mir: Weissage über diese Gebeine und sprich zu ihnen: Ihr verdorrten Gebeine, vernehmet das Wort des Herrn!

So spricht der Herr, Gott, zu diesen Gebeinen: Seht, ich will den Geist in euch kommen lassen, dass ihr wieder lebendig werdet!

Ich will euch Sehnen geben und Fleisch über euch wachsen lassen und euch mit Haut überziehen und will euch den Geist verleihen, dass ihr lebendig werdet und erkennet, dass ich der Herr bin.

Da weissagte ich, wie er mir geboten hatte. Als ich nun weissagte, entstand ein Rauschen und siehe, es regte sich und Gebein näherte sich zu Gebein, ein jedes zu seinem Gelenke.

Und ich schaute und siehe, Sehnen und Fleisch legten sich über sie und die Haut spannte sich darüber, den Geist aber hatten sie noch nicht.

Da sprach er zu mir: Weissage zum Geiste, weissage, Menschensohn! und sprich zu dem Geiste: So spricht der Herr, Gott: Komm Odem! von den vier Winden und hauche diese Getöteten an, dass sie wieder lebendig werden.

Als ich nun weissagte, wie er mir geboten hatte, kam der Geist in sie, sie erhielten Leben und stellten sich auf ihre Füße, eine große, sehr mächtige Heerschar.

Da sprach er zu mir: Menschensohn! alle diese Gebeine sind das Haus Israel, sie sprechen: Unsere Gebeine sind verdorrt und unsere Hoffnung ist geschwunden, wir sind weggeworfen.

Darum weissage und sprich zu ihnen: So spricht der Herr, Gott: Siehe, ich werde eure Gräber öffnen und euch, die ihr mein Volk seid, aus euern Gräbern herausführen und in das Land Israel geleiten.

Und ihr sollt erkennen, dass ich der Herr bin, wenn ich eure Gräber öffne und euch, mein Volk! aus euern Grüften herausführe,

und euch meinen Geist gebe, dass ihr lebet, und ich werde euch Ruhe gewähren in euerm Lande, damit ihr erfahret, dass ich, der Herr, geredet und es vollbracht habe, spricht der Herr, Gott.

Ein Königreich, ein König

Und es erging an mich das Wort des Herrn, also lautend:

Menschensohn! nimm dir ein Holz und schreibe darauf: Für Juda und die Söhne Israels, die mit ihm sind! Sodann nimm ein anderes Holz und schreibe darauf: Für Joseph, für den Stamm Ephraim, für das ganze Haus Israel und seine Genossen.

Und füge sie dann zu einem Holze zusammen, eines zum andern, dass sie in deiner Hand vereinigt seien.

Wenn dann die Söhne deines Volkes also zu dir sagen: Willst du uns nicht kundtun, was du damit willst?

so sprich zu ihnen: So spricht der Herr, Gott: Sehet, ich nehme das Holz Josephs, das in der Hand Ephraims ist, und die Stämme Israels, die mit ihm verbunden sind, und füge sie zu dem Holze Judas und mache daraus ein Holz, dass sie ins einer Hand eines werden.

So sollen die Hölzer, auf welche du geschrieben hast, in deiner Hand vor ihren Augen sein.

Alsdann sprich zu ihnen: So spricht der Herr, Gott: Sehet, ich werde die Kinder Israels aus der Mitte der Völker, zu denen sie gezogen sind, herausholen und sie sammeln von überallher und sie in ihr Land führen.

Ich werde sie zu einem Volke machen im Lande, auf den Bergen Israels, ein König soll über alle herrschen und sie sollen nicht ferner zu zwei Völkern werden und sich nicht mehr in zwei Reiche spalten.

Sie sollen sich nicht mehr durch ihre Götzen, ihre Greuel und alle ihre Vergehungen beflecken; ich werde sie erretten aus allen Orten, an denen sie gesündigt haben, und werde sie reinigen und sie sollen mein Volk und ich will ihr Gott sein.

Und mein Diener David soll König über sie sein und es soll ein Hirt über sie alle sein und sie werden nach meinen Rechten handeln und meine Gebote beobachten und erfüllen.

Und sie sollen in dem Lande wohnen, das ich meinem Diener Jakob gegeben, in dem eure Väter gewohnt haben; sie sollen darin wohnen und ihre Söhne und die Söhne ihrer Söhne bis in Ewigkeit und mein Diener David soll ihr Herrscher sein auf ewig.

Und ich werde einen Friedensbund mit ihnen schließen, ein ewiger Bund soll es für sie sein, und werde sie festigen und mehren und mein Heiligtum in ihrer Mitte setzen auf ewig.

Meine Wohnung soll unter ihnen sein und ich werde ihr Gott sein und sie sollen mein Volk sein.

So sollen die Völker dann erkennen, dass ich, der Herr, Israel heilige, wenn mein Heiligtum auf immer in ihrer Mitte sein wird.
