So they and their children had the oversight of the gates of the house of the Lord , namely, the house of the tabernacle, by wards.

Also Bakbukiah and Unni, their brethren, were over against them in the watches.
And both the singers and the porters kept the ward of their God, and the ward of the purification, according to the commandment of David, and of Solomon his son.
Thus cleansed I them from all strangers, and appointed the wards of the priests and the Levites, every one in his business;

They shall enter into my sanctuary, and they shall come near to my table, to minister unto me, and they shall keep my charge.
It shall be for the priests that are sanctified of the sons of Zadok; which have kept my charge, which went not astray when the children of Israel went astray, as the Levites went astray.(b) (c)
